Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ at Mt. Calvary,
It is with confidence in God’s own calling that I am writing to announce my acceptance of the call to serve as Pastor of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Wamego, Kansas. Through my conversations with you, the counsel of those God has placed in my life, our visit to Wamego, and my sense of where I can best serve the Lord of the Church with the gifts He has given me (all with much prayer along the way), there has been an ever-growing conviction that truly God has called me to serve His people at Mt. Calvary.
Please keep the Price family as well as St. Mark in your prayers in the days ahead. As you can imagine, after 20 years of ministry at St. Mark leaving is not an easy task. The members of this congregation have seen our family grow from three of us to ten! Their love and support has encouraged and blessed us in good time and in bad. They have graciously been patient with my weaknesses over these years. Many are genuinely heartbroken that we are to leave. Our children—two of whom are in high school—have strong ties to the school in Crawford. The prospect of finding their place among a new set of peers is daunting to them—as is the prospect to all of us of moving and all that will mean. Two of our sons will remain in Texas and find themselves for the first time living away from home. Again, your prayers are deeply desired.
That having been said, you are in my prayers! There is a sense of excitement and anticipation at what God may do as He leads Mt. Calvary and the Prices into what He Himself has prepared for us to do as we serve together in His Kingdom.
Over the next few days I will be in contact with the leadership at Mt. Calvary as a timeline for departure from St. Mark and arrival and installation there with you is hammered out.
May God continue to bless and direct us as He always has!
