“Extraordinary Grace”
October 19-23.
Speaker:
Guest instructor for the week is author, scholar, and co-host of the podcast, “40 Minutes in The Old Testament” Chad Bird. Theme will look at the life of Jacob and how God’s extraordinary grace is written all over the pages of his story.
Schedule:
October 19th is an arrival day. Wednesday and Thursday AM all food is on your own (BYO).
October 20th and morning/afternoon of 21st are camp activity days. Some men plan to bring their 4x4s and do some off-roading close to camp. Other options are camp course activities with competitions (airsoft down the zipline, beanbag toss on the swing), hiking, trout fishing in the pond, scaling Cedar Mountain. We also plan to get a Range Safety officer so that we can use the Gun Range.
Evening of October 21st will “Begin the retreat” with our first teaching session (see speaker above) and hospitality (snacks and beer/wine) and an evening activity (cornhole tourney or poker game)
October 22st we will have some learning sessions from Chad Bird. That evening we also plan to have an evening activity as well as some camp use options throughout the day.
Sunday morning, October 23rd we will have a worship service and then disperse somewhere around 10:30am.
Price for the event including lodging/food for Thursday pm-Sunday AM, Hospitality, Camp use, and all devotional resources will be $150.
Cost does not include any gun/Ammo use (BYO or we will work out a deal with someone who does bring gun/ammo), transportation, or meals in transit.
Transportation will not be coordinated by the planning group though we do plan to have a pre-meeting where we can arrange carpools.
Directions to Lutheran Valley Retreat:
note: Cell phone reception at LVR is pretty much non-existent. Wifi is mostly reliable but don’t plan on watching Netflix or scrolling through your “feed” for most of the time on campus. Plan to disconnect from technology and engage with God’s Word, His creation, and fellow Christian men. (you should be able to contact home in the evening over wifi to tell the family goodnight).
